More than 2,100 victims of female genital mutilation have been treated in London hospitals since 2010, it emerged today.

Almost 300 women needed surgery to help them recover from the brutal ritual, new figures have revealed.

Among those treated in the capital’s hospitals included 12 children, including one girl who had been left with an ‘open wound’ following the criminal act.

A vile, shameful practice. My spouse confronted a Sudanese woman at Walgreens who asked where to get a straight razor. My spouse told the woman that she knew what the woman was up to and was going to report her to the police and North Carolina child welfare immediately. The woman fled and got away before any of the employees could get her license plate number, unfortunately.

Supposedly, the purpose of genital mutilation is for a woman to be better able to sexually satisfy her spouse. Everything I’ve read about it indicates that females who are subjected to genital mutilation spend the rest of their lives in pain. This is an out-dated, barbaric practice and should be outlawed in every country where it is still being used.

The perverted dogma of political correctness has prevented this in the UK ,although FGM is illegal!

Having seen in person the results of FGM, you can not imagine the incredible scarring that occurs from these barbaric acts. It is nothing but torture inflicted on young, helpless girls, and I am sure the mortality rate is much higher than reported. Photographs do not accurately convey the full effect of what this looks like. It is almost like the scarring from a severe burn. The skin is pulled taunt and has no pliability. Just trying to move in certain positions (like squatting) can be painful, and I can’t imagine what it would be like just to have sex.

The last case I saw in residency was on the Ob service, and it confirmed the fact that you did not have to have penetration to become pregnant (the splash technique really can work). Her vaginal opening was so small I could barely get a finger in to check her cervix, and I have very small fingers. The opening to the bladder could not even be visualized. It was only found by taking a neonatal feeding tube and just poking in the general area until it went in the bladder. We performed a C/S since there was no way she could have delivered vaginally without major tearing and bleeding. I have no doubt she would have died in childbirth if she had given birth in an African village. Her mother actually took her back to Africa when she was 9 years old to have this performed.
